Lovers In Shadows

Cobblestone streets, byways and alleys;

Darkness, save for a street lamp.

Lovers in shadows, they walk in silence,

Dare they not say to the world:

“We love.”

Dare they not pause to wish on a star,

Or exist like the blest of this world without passion.

Lovers in shadows,

Less than the by-blow of this unyielding earth…

Gone to an ill fated wind.

Who Will Mourn Me?

Will you cry at my funeral?

Will I have a funeral?

Will they cover me up where I fall?

Will you sing me a song,

Will you play me a tune,

Or dust off your hands, and that’s all.

Will my body be borne by beautiful maids,

Or beautiful men, all weeping…

Will you comfort them all, with the lie that

I’m only just sleeping?

Who will mourn me?

If I drew my last breath in this moment,

Is there anyone, really, who’d care?
